John was born July 31 to Albin and Dorothy Severson Rust in Rice Lake. After graduating from Barron High School in 1965 he attended college at Madison and then Eau Claire before returning to the family farm near Hillsdale. In 1975 he married Kathy Anderson at Bethany Lutheran near Almena and raised 5 children with her well short of the dozen he had hoped for. After working the family farm for 20 years he was later employed at Schutz Holm Farm near Dallas before retiring from farming to provide transportation for nursing home residents and drive for Meals on Wheels. John loved reading and was rarely without a book nearby. He spent many hours at the Barron and Rice Lake public libraries. He enjoyed driving around the countryside and traveling to new places. After battling multiple myeloma and renal failure for almost 7 years and spending the last 8 months at Dove West Healthcare facility in Eau Claire Arloa Ann Bannister age 88 passed away at 2 a.m. Monday morning February 9 2026 at Mayo Clinic hospital in Eau Claire. Arloa was born to Margaret Ruth and William Reichert on July 31 1937. Her early years were spent helping her father and mother on the farm outside Hillsdale. She graduated from Barron High School and continued to help on the farm after marrying army veteran Alfred Eugene Bannister. Her son Brian was born on November 25 1957. Brians father Alfred passed away in May 1998. Arloa married Russell Walters at the Hillsdale Gospel Tabernacle on August 7 1999 and gained 6 stepchildren stepson Russell Carolyn Walters Jr. grandchildren Russell Walters III Ronald Walters and Roger Walters stepdaughter Sharon Bruce Rowell grandsons Scott Rowell…

Inez Marie Thompson, 92, of Dallas passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026, at Barron Care & Rehab. She was born June 21, 1933, the summer solstice, in Barron, WI to Harvey and Martha (Miller) Weekes.Inez loved being outside in beautiful weather. She enjoyed playing cards with family, going to bingo, and going on outings. Inez had many friends in the Twin Cities and Dallas area that she enjoyed staying in contact with. She was a member of the Dallas Lutheran Church and served many years in her church circle.She is survived by her children: Terry (Dorian) Thompson, Brian (Patti) Thompson, Gail Thompson, Rhonda (Rick) Stein, and Tami Thompson; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister-in-law; and nieces and nephews. Inez was preceded in death by her son, Scott Thompson.A memorial service will be held in the spring.Skinner Funeral Home of Cumberland is serving the family.
