Thomas C. Smith, 77, entered Heaven’s gates on January 25, 2026. Born in Edinburg, Texas, on May 10, 1948, to John W. and Helen M. Smith, Tom was raised in McAllen, Texas. He graduated from McAllen High School and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Pan American College in 1971.In June 1970, Tom married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Hosmer, in Pharr, Texas. Together, they built a life in McAllen, Alice, and Boerne. Their family became complete with the adoption of their three children: Richard in 1977, followed by Cynthia and Timothy in 1980.Tom dedicated much of his professional life to protecting his community. He served with the McAllen and Alice Police Departments, the Kendall County Sheriff’s Department, and finally the Boerne Police Department, from which he retired as an Investigator in May 2008.
