James Leland Owen 86 passed away on Thursday February 12 2026 at New Albany Health and Rehab. A proud veteran of the Army and National Guard he was also a devoted member of the American Legion. James shared 54 wonderful years with the love of his life Brenda Owen. While a longtime member of Black Zion Pentecostal Church he had recently been attending Thaxton Baptist Church with his family. He spent much of his life working in the furniture industry at Washington and American Furniture. Known for his kind heart warm smile and hearty laugh James was an avid reader and a regular at the Pontotoc Library. Joseph Daniel J.D. Baldwin 93 passed away at his home in Algoma MS on Thursday February 12. Born April 15 1932 in Wynne Arkansas to Henry and Bertha Stowers Baldwin he was happily married to Dean Watson Baldwin for 60 years. A man of faith and prayer J.D. loved his family his country and sharing stories of Gods blessings in his life. He had a strong testimony excelled in his work and served as foreman for West Construction for many years. Cathy Rena Morphis 56 passed away at home on Wednesday February 11 2026. Born on November 28 1969 to Mitchell and Debbie Morphis in Pontotoc MS she graduated from Pontotoc High School. A member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Houlka MS Cathy cherished her family and loved spending time with them. She had extensive knowledge of vintage glassware and a passion for all things vintage especially collecting costume jewelry. She was also a devoted Ole Miss fan who loved cheering on the team.
