Michele Joanne (Crowel) Hekter of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away peacefully on February 7th 2026 at home with her loving family.Michele was born February 2nd 1966 in Michigan City to the late Richard Lee and Cathy Lynne (Siuda) Crowel and was raised in Three Oaks, Michigan.She wore many titles to all of us. Wife, Mom, Grandma, Daughter, Sister, Aunt, and Friend. She was a caregiver, partner in mischief, and most definitely a defender of her family, in good times and bad, always loyal and never wavering, standing strong for all those she loves.From 1999-2015, Michele alongside her little sister dedicated herself to taking care of their beautiful Mother. When Their Mom was first diagnosed with M.S. in 1987 Michele took on a mothering role to her younger siblings when needed even if sometimes they didn’t want it, because that’s who she was, she loved and cared with her whole heart.…
