Laura Love Goodson Leek 64 of McGehee AR passed away on February 10 2026. She was born on September 19 1961 to the late Larry and Betty Love. Lauras students at DHS were one of our most prized gifts in life. She cared for them and loved them as if they were her own children. She saw her position as a teacher as an opportunity to change a young persons life and make them feel loved. Every student that she crossed paths with truly made every single day fullled. Laura loved life and everyone in it. She cared and loved bigger than seemingly possible. And she made sure her loved ones knew it. She had so many friends in dierent areas of her life from church to school to the community and she considered them all as an extension of her family. Her and her closest and longest lasting friends…

Jerry Wayne Starnes 77 of Lake Village passed away on Thursday February 12 2026. He was born on October 27 1948 to the late J.W. and Reba Starnes. Jerry graduated from McGehee High School and later attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello. He proudly served his country in the United States National Guard for 21 years including 15 years of active duty. Jerry dedicated much of his professional life to serving his community. He worked for 14 years at First Service Bank in Dermott and for three years at Union Bank as an internal auditor. He also worked for nine years at Safeway Grocery. Called to ministry Jerry faithfully pastored several churches throughout southeast Arkansas including Richland Baptist Church at Watson Ebenezer Baptist at Warren Greenhill Baptist Church at Dermott Baptist Church Tillar Baptist Church and Kelso Baptist Church.
