William W. Price, 87 of Mt. Pleasant passed away on May 15, 2018 after a long battle with cancer.  


Bill was born on February 23, 1931 to John Franklin and Velma Eunice Price in the little town of Lowell, Arkansas.


He was one of 9 children having 3 brothers and 5 sisters. There were many chores to be done on the farm until enlisting in the United States Navy. After a short military tour due to an injury, Bill found the love of his life, Melba. They celebrated 47 years of marriage before her death in 2003. Bill retired from Texas Utilities/Luminant in 2013.


Bill will be remembered for his passion of volunteer work with the Mt. Pleasant Chamber of Commerce and The Whatley Center Entertainment Committee; his kind and generous heart, golf, gardening, and his love of dancing and country music.


Bill is survived by his two daughters, Debbie Holloway and husband Steve, Shari Shull and Mark Watson, grandchildren Alison Moore and husband Cody, Stephanie Pittman and husband Matthew, Randall Shull and Erika White, Kelsey Musgrove and husband Justin, great grandchildren Ava Kate Shull and Rachel Marie Moore. One brother Joe Price, numerous nieces and nephews, special friend Ferol Holcomb. Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife Melba Moore Price and infant daughter, Terry Lynn Price, his parents, five sisters and two brothers.


The family extends a thank you to Mt. Pleasant Assisted Living with special caregivers Felicia, Jessica and Amanda for the excellent care they provided; also the excellent administrative coordination from Jeanie Carpenter. Cypress Basin Hospice has also been instrumental in taking care of all things, a special thank you to Krishna Harper and special sitters Lili, Ruth and Nubia.


A memorial service will be held for Bill on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home with a visitation being held an hour before, at the funeral home.


In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Cypress Basin Hospice or a charity of your choice
