Mr. Reever passed away October 26, 2017 in Tyler.
He was born September 14, 1937 in East St. Louis, Illinois to the late Victor Q. and Sarah Lohrman Reever. Roy was a Resident of Athens for many years and a member of Living for the Brand Cowboy Church. He retired after 40 years of service from Garrett Iron, a family business in Balch Springs, Texas. In the last several years he enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles. He loved his God and the church, serving as Deacon of Calvary Baptist Church in Trinidad for many years. He was the patriarch of his family – Husband, Daddy, Papaw, and Uncle Roy. He loved his family deeply and was a living example of the love of God to all that knew him. He was “Santa” for us at Christmas, passing out presents at our family celebrations, and always enjoyed playing with grandkids and great-grandkids as often as possible.
He was preceded in death by his father V.Q. Reever, mother; Sarah Lohram Reever and step-mother; Katherine Reever, brothers; George Reever and Harry Reever, sisters; Pearl Waugh and Eva Garrett.
Survivors include his wife Beth McEntire Reever, Athens, daughters; Vivian Reever Hardgrave, Athens, Dodie Reever Thompson and husband Melvin, Trinidad, brother; Robert Reever, Canton, grandchildren; Chase Thompson and wife Lauren of Trinidad, Ethan Thompson of Seven Points, Chad Hardgrave and wife Erin of Plano, Tobie Herrington and husband Mike of Athens, Andy Cornelius of Montalba, great-grandchildren; Greyson Hardgrave, Christopher Herrington, Delaney Bell, Kaitlyn, Kylee and Kinsey Cornelius, Madison Roberts, Cayson Roberts and Rylan Thompson.
