Funeral services for Rev. Noah Wesley Luman, 87, of Carthage, Texas will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roger Blackburn and Rev. Dennis Landtroop officiating. Burial will follow in the Deadwood Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Monday night at Hawthorn’s. Rev. Luman died November 11, 2017 in Longview, Texas.
Rev. Noah Wesley Luman was born June 5, 1930 in the Blackjack Community of Nacogdoches County, Texas. He was one of twelve children born to the marriage of Robert Carlos “Bud” Luman and Lilly “Zonie” Oliver Luman. He was raised and began schools in Chireno and then he served his country through the U. S. Air Force during WWII and returning home would attend Panola College. He would marry Beulah Jane Dickerson June 25, 1949 and she would precede him in death 17 years later. Noah would then unite with Lillian Olean LaGrone in 1965 and would remain devoted 48 years until she would also precede him in death in 2014.
Mr. Luman would work as a master mechanical contractor throughout his life, but the ministry and love of his Lord would carry him through. He pastored numerous Pentecostal churches through the years and was a member of the Gary Pentecostal Church. He loved fishing, traveling with family and friends who he would share his home grown produce with. He was a poet, singer, composer and talented man at heart. He is also preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Herman, Carlos, Vernon, Charlie, Paul, Brice and John Luman, sisters, Pearl Webb, Rosa Lee Dickerson, and Lillian Cockrell, daughter, Angela Gaye Hill, grandsons, Noah Ronald Luman, Jr., and Alex Brownlee, great grandchild, Christian Nichols, and son-in-law, Dwight Taylor.
Rev. Luman is survived by his loving children, Ronnie Luman and wife Leslie of Nacogdoches, Lora Jane Luman Taylor of Carthage, Terry Rodney Luman and wife Sylvia of Palestine, Edward Wesley “Bud” Luman of Carthage, Rosa Luman Brownlee of Flatwoods, LA, Cynthia Lora Gaye Luman Phillips and husband Allen of Mora, LA, Angie Rose and husband Jason of Pineville, LA, Vernell Luman McFadden of Deadwood, Ricky Luman of Deadwood, sister, Ethel Hudson and husband Clayton of Centerville, special cousin, Harold Oliver of Wells, a multitude of grandchildren, great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends, special devoted friends, Rev. Roy Walton and Sis, Patricia Walton.
