Graveside funeral services for Mr. William Halcumb, 91, of DeBerry, Texas will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the Walnut Springs Cemetery with Mr. Richard Halcumb officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will by 11-1:00 p.m. Thursday morning at Hawthorn Funeral Home. Mr. Halcumb died peacefully at his DeBerry home, January 15, 2018.
Mr. William Henry Halcumb was born August 16, 1926 in Brazoria, Texas. He was the fourth of five children born to the marriage of Gailey and Jewel Walden Halcumb. He was raised attending Deer Park Schools where he played football. He served his country through the U. S. Army 82nd airborne. William would marry Patricia Ann Elliott and they would celebrate 64 years of marriage before she preceded him in death. 
Mr. Halcumb worked many years for the Shell Oil Refinery and would retire from the American Can Company after many years of service. He loved fishing, sports and family, following any grandchild to any sporting event. He is also preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Ruby, Marguerette, Junior, and Carl Halcumb, son William Halcumb, Jr. and daughter, Lori Susan Halcumb.
Mr. Halcumb is survived by his wife, Ruth Kirk Halcumb of Highland Village, children, Richard Halcumb and wife Debra of Carthage, Carl Halcumb and wife Kris of Longview, Carol Halcumb of DeBerry, grandchildren, Jeffrey Halcumb and wife Christi of Haughton, LA, Bryce Halcumb and wife Mindy of Carthage, Lori Kraeger and husband David of Harmony, Britt Bragg and husband Roger of Carthage, Chad Halcumb and wife Gretha of Hawkins, Brandon Halcumb and wife Becca of Longview, Jimmy Lee Halcumb and wife Kaylan of Pritchett, step grandchildren, David Tondreau and wife Stacey of Carthage, Brandon Tondreau and wife Lisa of Carthage, and Amanda LeMaire and husband Gerald of Carthage, 26 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
