Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Nell Zahn, 85, of Liberty City will be held on Monday, November 27, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ralph Rudy and Reverend Sonja Meador officiating. Burial will follow at the Rock Springs Cemetery. Mrs. Zahn passed away Thursday at her home. Family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Monday at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore.

Mary was born on October 1, 1932 in Falfurrias, Texas, to the late James Thomas and Julia Williams Allan. She worked as a secretary for the Sabine Independent School District for 15 years. Mary was a member of Samuel Paul Dinkens Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Mary was a past member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Kilgore, where she played the guitar in the Praise Team for 10 years. Mrs. Zahn was a member of McCary’s United Methodist Church, where she was President of Sisters-In-Christ for 4 years. Mary was responsible for starting Prayer Shawl Ministry at McCary’s Chapel. 

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Jerry B. Zahn of Liberty City; children, J.B. Zahn and wife Sherrie of Trinity, FL., Scott Zahn and wife Donna of Tatum, TX., and Julia DeFreece of Liberty City; grandchildren, Kimberly Kitchens of Louisville, KY., Janell Dunaway of Kilgore, Amanda Zahn of Tatum, Texas, Scotty Zahn of Tatum, Texas and Tell DeFreece of Blanchard, Louisiana and other loving family members. 

She was preceded in death by her brother, Tommy Allan.

Memorials may be made to McCary’s Chapel UMC Food Pantry and Angel’s Attic 5758 Old Hwy 135 North Kilgore, Texas 75662.
