Jane passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 17, 2017. Born October 2, 1924. She grew up in Hannibal, Missouri. Jane graduated from University of Missouri where she met her husband, John. Together they began Porter's Fine Dry Cleaners in 1965. She is survived by her daughters, Anne Cathcart and husband Dale, Carol McKenzie and husband Steve, and her son, Mark and wife Kate. Also surviving her are her eight grandchildren, Chris Cathcart, Michael Cathcart and wife Sylvia, Heather Price and husband, Marc, John Porter and wife Mary Claire, Caroline Porter, Melissa Porter, Kelly McKenzie, and Lee Michael McKenzie. She is also survived by ten great grandchildren and her niece Nancy Monsman and husband Jerry and a whole host of friends. 

Her joy came from serving others. She was a Schumpert “pink lady” for 23 years, Grace Home volunteer from 1997 to it's closing in May, Women's Department Club, Shreveport Symphony Guild, 50+ year member of PEO Chapter R among others. Jane was an active member of Broadmoor United Methodist church serving in many capacities and member of the Couples Class for 68 years. 

If you have been blessed by Jane Porter, the family would love to celebrate her life with you on Tuesday, June 20 at Broadmoor United Methodist. Visitation will be held at 1:00 with the celebration of her life at 2:00. Presiding will be Dr. Greg Davis assisted by Rev. Peter Gaughan and Rev. Steve Caraway.

The Porter family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Dr. Richard Haynie, Dr. Christopher Snead, and the splendid staff at The Oaks.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials made to Broadmoor United Methodist Church, 3715 Youree Drive, 71105 or St Jude’s Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Places, Memphis, TN 38105 or charity of donor's choice.
