Glenda Kay Shanks was born on November 10, 1946 to Andrew Carroll and Thelma Katherine Ables at Florence Nightingale Maternity Hospital (now Baylor Hospital) in Dallas, Tx and she went home to glory on the morning of January 4, 2018. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Elwood Shanks of Terrell; her daughter Kristi and husband Ricky Wilson of Wills Point, her son Christopher (Bubba) and wife Tonette Blasius of Terrell and son Mark and wife Meagan Blasius of Terrell, daughters: Sherry Lynn Cordell and husband, Jerry, and Anita Griffin and husband, Kelley. She was the proud Nanny to Ricky Paul Wilson, Breanna Gottschalk and husband Cody, Dustin Starr and wife Hope, Jake, Wade, Micah, Lucas, Daylor, and Kaelynn Blasius, Elizabeth and Michael Cordell, Christopher McCullum, and James Griffin. Kay was also the treasured great grandmother of Briley Starr, Ashtyn Blasius, Ava Gottschalk, Jordan Cordell, Audrey, Lacy and Ellie McCullum. She leaves behind her brother, James (Butch) Carroll Ables of Terrell and sister, Suzy Ward and husband Roy of Terrell. 
Kay was a faithful member of Crossover Baptist Church of Terrell. A tireless and devoted wife, mother, Nanny and great-grandmother, Kay made sure that each person knew how much she loved them. Her beautiful smile and loving heart for others will be a cherished legacy that her family will be proud to carry on into their own lives as a testament to her memory. She deeply loved her family and we will all miss her greatly.
Funeral service will be at 11:00am, Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 at Max Slayton Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Oakland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 2-4pm, Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018 at Max Slayton Funerals and Cremations.
