Services for Frances Wilkinson, of Tyler, will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Stewart Family Funeral Home Chapel in Tyler with Dr. Don Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wilkinson passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2018 in Tyler. Frances was born 99 years ago in Kaufman County, Texas to William Milas and Lillie Mae Veach. She was raised by her oldest sister, Rosa, and she graduated from Tyler High School. She married Hoy Wilkinson, who worked as a foreman in Bud Jones Garage and later worked in the insurance business. Frances worked for Brookshire’s Grocery Company for several years. After they retired, they built a home in Emory, Texas where they lived for some twenty years. While there, they were members of Emory Baptist Church, where Frances served the Lord as a Sunday School teacher and Bible teacher for many years. She was also the secretary for the Sonshiners, a senior group in the church.
Among her many other activities, she was a member of the Rebekahs, where she rose to the title of “Noble Grand”. She was quite active in the senior center in Emory where she loved to play “42” and other games. She also enjoyed traveling to visit her children and grandchildren in places, such as Florida, Washington State, and others.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband and all of her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Gloria Dunlop and Lynda Duncan; as well as five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Cliff Dunlop, James Purvis, Sean Smith, Charlie Farrell and Bill High.
Visitation is scheduled from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 8, 2018 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
