Doris Phillips Milford
Nacogdoches, TX

Doris Phillips Milford, 77, of Nacogdoches, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018 in Nacogdoches.  She was born on November 4, 1940, in Houston, the daughter of Jasper and Clara Jenkins Phillips.  A memorial visitation will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Laird Funeral Home.  A private inurnment will be held at a later date.

Doris was raised in her beloved East Texas, where she spent her lifetime.  She raised her children, and along with the rest of her family, they were her pride and joy.  She spent many hours cooking for them, but she was best at baking!  She always had some sweet treat to share.  Doris was very talented in her crafty wood working skills as well as decorating.  She loved working with her hands, and when she got an idea in her head, she was set on finishing it.  Most times, the things she made were for someone else, and she was proud to do it for them.  Her love of building and making things, was something she proudly taught her children and grandchildren. When Doris was not diligently making something, she could be found in her flower garden, or at night around a fire (which she was always in charge of building because she did it better than anyone).  When the weekend arrived, her grandchildren looked forward to going to the movies or garage sales with her.

Doris is survived by her husband, Gene Milford of Nacogdoches; daughters, Cyndi Hall and husband, Elmo of Appleby, Jennifer Presley and husband, Brad of Longview and Julie Dickens and husband, Marvin of Gary; son, James Harrison Milford and wife, Meagan of Richmond; sister, Revar Abby Miley of Appleby and Patsy Shepherd and husband James of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Lindsay, Kevin, Andrea, Robyn, Heather, Kamryn, Harrison, Mamie, Marry Frances, and Scott; and great granddaughter, Brylee Kara.  She is also survived by her beloved furry friend, JR.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ralph Phillips, and sister, Rose Phillips.
