Charlie Wayne Carter, 76, of DeBerry, TX, passed away on Friday morning, Dec. 15, 2017, at his home in DeBerry. He was born on June 6, 1941, in the Galloway Community of Panola County to the late John Ernest and Birdie Dieana Cameron Carter. He attended Logansport schools. He married Carylon Sue Adkins on July 6, 1963, in DeBerry and she preceded him in death on Nov. 2, 2017, after 54 years of marriage. Mr. Carter worked at Beaird Industries in Shreveport, retiring in 1996, after 36 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and attending any and every athletic event for his grandsons. Mr. Carter lived his lifetime in Panola County and was a member of DeBerry Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Carter was also preceded in death by a brother, James “Jay” Carter.

Survivors include son, Wayne Carter and wife Jeannie of Waskom; daughter, Rebecca Cameron of DeBerry; siblings, Buddy Carter and wife Mattie Grace of Paxton,  Mary Jones of Paris, TX, Daniel Carter of Galloway, Connie May and husband Bruce of Galloway, and Shirley Broadus and husband Richard Gean of Galloway; and grandchildren, Trace Carter and wife Kelsie and John Ty Carter.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Bruce Head and Eric Wilburn officiating. Interment will follow in DeBerry Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
