Funeral services for Mr. James Gildon, 64, of Beckville, Texas will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 16, 2018 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dennis Landtroop and Bro. James Moore officiating. Burial will be at 4:00 p.m. in the Munnerlyn Chapel Cemetery in Ida, Louisiana. Services are under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Gildon passed away February 12, 2018 in Carthage.
Mr. James Aaron Gildon was born February 21, 1953 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was one of seven children born to John Alvin and Ester Lee Weems Gildon. James was raised in Plain Dealing and graduated from Plain Dealing Academy with the class of 1971. He married DeVon “Dee Dee” Nichols on May 12, 1972 and together they celebrated 45 years. James worked for International Paper Company for 10 years and later retired from TXU in July 2000 as a diesel mechanic after 21 years. Mr. Gildon was a member of the Carthage United Pentecostal Church and loved hunting, fishing, carpentry and welding. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marjorie O’Neal; and an infant daughter, Wendy Michelle Gildon.
Mr. Gildon is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Dee Dee Gildon of Beckville; daughters, Amy Denise Foster and husband Brian “Shorty” of Harleton, Erin Elizabeth Hergert and husband James of Hallsville; grandchildren, Ryan Foster, Dyonna Foster, Avery Foster, Bailey Foster, Makenna Hergert, Makullen Hergert, Kutter Hergert, Diesel Foster, Kylan Hergert; sisters, Joanna Canterbury of Springhill, LA, Dianna Powell and husband Johnny of Dublin, GA; brothers, Bennie Gildon and wife Pat of Dublin, GA, Orville Gildon and wife Fran of Minden, LA, John T. Gildon and wife Linda of Plain Dealing, LA; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
