Funeral services for Kirk Lynn Foreman Portley, 64, of Lone Star, Texas formerly of Kilgore, Texas, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Victory Funeral Services with Rev. Lamar Jones officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Victory Funeral Services of Kilgore, Texas.
Kirk was born to Lue Nettie Williams on Tuesday, February 3, 1953, in Longview, Texas and was soon adopted by Tessie Portley. He departed this life on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 in Lone Star, Texas.
He attended Kilgore public elementary schools, C. B. Dansby High School where he played football and was a graduate in the Kilgore High School Class of 1971.
Early in life he was baptized at Kilgore Baptist Church and was a member until his demise.
After high school he entered the work force with employment with the Social Security Administration. He later displayed his love for children; especially those with special needs, as a devoted teacher and bus driver at Kilgore, Pine Tree, and Tyler Independent School Districts, and Azleway Boy's Ranch.
Anything automotive held a special place in his life and heart. He was an avid collector of exotic cars. In his free time he enjoyed being a mechanic, studying art and mathematics, and writing music.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, James and Sally Portley, step fathers, Johnny "Nurse" Rossum and Lawrence Morrow, and a sister, Carolyn Phillips.
He leaves to cherish his memory to his daughters, Kimberly Wells-Jones and her husband, David of Longview, TX; Kiani Spellbring of Livingston, TX; and SSgt Billie J. Foster and husband, Brooks of Silver Springs, MD; and Audrey Portley of Gladewater, TX; sons, Larry Polley and his wife, Angela of Longview, TX; Kirby Portley and his wife, Lauren of Austin, TX; sisters, Barbara Foreman Mixon, Emma Dale McGree, Brenda Joyce Cooper all of Dallas, TX; brothers, Richard Earl Foreman, Marvin Foreman and Victor Foreman all of Dallas, TX; ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Freddie Ellison of Longview, TX and a host of other relatives and friends.
