Henry H. Johnson, 96, of Paris, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2017 in Legend Healthcare & Rehab. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 AM Thursday, November 16, 2017 in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the McCrury Cemetery with military honors provided by the Ft. Hood Honor Guard and the Patriot Guards. Family will receive friends from 6:00 PM till 7:00 PM Wednesday at the Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.
Mr. Johnson was born on December 14, 1920 in Bogata, Texas a son of Charles and Emma Johnson. After the death of his father, at an early age, he was raised by his mother and Step-father Emmons Abernathy. He was retired from Fields and Company in Lubbock, as a salesman, in 1978. He served proudly in the U.S. Army, during WW II, in the Black Panther Division. He served in Northern France and received the following medals, American Theater, World War 2 Victory, EAME Campaign with a bronze Star. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maudina Seago Johnson, whom he married on March 25, 1972 in Lubbock, Texas, parents, siblings, Ben Johnson, Charlie “Chuck” Johnson, Arthur Johnson, Buddy Johnson, Vernon Johnson, Minnie Johnson Stogner and Ida May Johnson.
He is survived by sons, Ronald Wayne Johnson, who resides in Italy and Henry Michael Johnson of Paris, a special neighbor and friend, Mary Eppers and family and a host of nieces and nephews.
