Services for Carl "Fletcher" Thompson, 77 of Winona, will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 14, 2017 at First Baptist Church Winona with Bro. Jeff Bauman and Bro. Don Whisenhunt officiating, under direction of Jackson's Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home.  He will be laid to rest at Harris Creek Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at Jackson's Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home.  Mr. Thompson passed away August 10, 2017 in Tyler.  He was born March 6, 1940 in Smith County to the late Ernest and Myrtle Everett Thompson.  He has lived in Smith County all his life and was retired.  He had worked as a sheet metal mechanic and worked in the HVAC industry, having worked with several companies in the Tyler area.    Fletcher was a man of God and was married to his best friend for 60 years.  He was a devoted family man who had a passion for hunting and fishing.  He was a member of First Baptist Church in Winona and was an Evangelistic Southern Gospel Singer.  He was loved by all especially his family; his wife, Vauncile Thompson; sons and daughters-in-law, Danny Ray and Lesa Thompson and Carl Jr. and Lavaughn Thompson; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Mike Boland and Gina Michelle and Jeff Bauman; one brother, Lawrence Ray Thompson; one sister, Ernestine Morphis;  10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  Pallbearers will be Ben Bauman, Tim Bauman, Jonathan Thompson, Joey Thompson, Daniel Thompson and Sam Tadlock.  The Honorary pallbearer is Trey Thompson.   The family request Memorials be made to First Baptist Church, 212 Dallas Street, Winona, Texas 75792.
