Carl Stokes “Dick” Murray, age 85, of Lovelady passed away October 14, 2017. He was born November 17, 1931 in Houston County to parents, Luther Murray and Ethel Hutcherson Murray. Dick served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and worked tirelessly for forty-six years with the Borden Milk Co. He was a faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church of Lovelady and he enjoyed special fellowship with his church family.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lou Ellen Matchett Murray; children, Terry Lynn Murray of Huntsville, Texas, Carla Murray-Wolfe and husband, Bill of Grapevine, Texas, Renda Murray Vayo and husband, John of Lovelady; grandchildren, Kristen Antille and husband, Pascal of Switzerland, Joshua Neil Murray of Chicago, Matthew Major and wife, Katy of Willis, Miranda Young and husband, Tyler of Lovelady; great-grandchildren; Madeline Antille, Samuel Antille, Naomi Antille, Anderson Major, Charlotte Major, and Avery Young; three brothers, four sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Ethel Murray; brothers, James and Charles Murray; sister, Doris Marsh; and a very special daughter-in-law, Sherry Lynn Krause Murray.

Funeral services for Carl Stokes “Dick” Murray will be held Friday, October 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Antioch Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Antioch Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Callaway-Allee Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Antioch Baptist Church Building Fund.
