A funeral service for Allen “Sonny” Pickett, age 71, of Jacksonville, is scheduled at 2 o’clock in the afternoon Monday, October 23, 2017 at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville with Ron Ivy officiating. 
Mr. Pickett passed away Thursday, October 19, 2017 in Tyler.
Sonny was born May 16, 1946 in Tyler to Henry and Cleo (Pollard) Pickett. Sonny graduated from Athens High School in 1964.
He was the owner of Lookout Valley Ranch and worked for Goodyear for 30 years. Sonny was a memberof the American Paint Horse Association, Palomino Horse Breeder Association, American Quarter Horse Association, and Beard Auction Company. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Derek Brown and Jason Brown; and by his World Champion Quarter Horse, Showbid.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Pamela Pickett of Jacksonville; sons, Stacy Pickett and wife Stephanie, Michael Scott Pickett, all of Chandler. He is also survived by his brother, Randall Pickett and wife Deborah of Tyler; grandchildren, Kayla Pickett, Kelly Lively, Zoey Schwarz, Gunner Wood and Owen Wood; two great-grandchildren, Dakota and Keldon Lively; several nieces and nephews. 
Honorary pallbearers are Gordon Rains, James Gossett, Matthew Spence, Casey Wood, Michael Mullican and J.D. Tuberville.
Visitation will begin on Sunday, October 22, 2017 and friends are cordially invited to visit with the Sonny’s family from 6 to 8 o’clock in the evening at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
Rather than customary condolences, memorials may be made to Refuge of Light at P.O. Box 132703, Tyler, Texas 75713.
